Refund Policy

Refunds and cancellations, plainly stated.

Last updated: August 2026

The short version

If we haven't started your work yet, you get a full refund. Once drafting has begun, you're paying for paralegal time already spent, so refunds from that point are for the unearned portion only. We will always tell you plainly where your matter stands before you decide.

Case File service ($149 flat)

The Case File fee covers document retrieval and organization, including all court retrieval fees. If we are unable to retrieve the records — for example, because nothing is publicly available in the case — you receive a full refund. As stated on our Pricing page, the $149 fee is credited in full toward document preparation if you engage us for that service within 60 days.

Document-preparation engagements (single payment)

If you cancel before we begin drafting your motion or petition, you receive a full refund. If you cancel after drafting has begun, you are entitled to a partial refund reflecting the work not yet completed, based on our reasonable, good-faith estimate of the drafting stage reached. Once a document has been completed and delivered to you for review, the engagement is considered fulfilled and is not eligible for a refund, whether or not you choose to file it.

Monthly payment plans

Some engagements are offered as four monthly payments rather than payment in full. If you cancel a payment plan, no further installments will be charged, and the refund terms above apply to installments already paid, based on the drafting stage reached at the time of cancellation. We do not charge a cancellation fee.

What a refund does not cover

No outcome, timeline, or result is guaranteed by any service we offer — courts, not Writ Large, decide the outcome of any filing. A refund is available for the reasons stated above; it is not available because a court denied a motion, ruled against you, or took longer than expected. We are also not responsible for delays caused by incomplete or inaccurate information or records provided to us.

How to request a refund

Contact info@prisonerlegalaid.com or 786-408-5073 and tell us your name, the payment method used, and the reason for the request. We will confirm the status of your matter and process any refund due to your original payment method through Stripe, typically within 5–10 business days.
